I was born Kevin Jerome Gilyard on February 5, 1986 in New Orleans, Louisiana. My family moved to Baton Rouge a few years later, where I grew up. I had a challenging upbringing in Baton Rouge, marked by early encounters with the law and a passion for music that emerged in my teens. Despite setbacks, including a prison stint, I persevered in my music career, releasing hit mixtapes like “The Luca Brasi Story” and gaining recognition with albums like “Stranger than Fiction” and “By Any Means”. I’m currently signed to Atlantic Records and Bread Winners’ Association, and my debut studio album “Islah” peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart in 2016.
